B-CU Alum Makes Second Appearance on Food Network

Earlier this week, Cake Artist and Bethune-Cookman graduate Michele Holmes made her second national TV appearance on Food Network’s The Big Bake Halloween Edition. She’s the Owner of Skye Confections located in Atlanta and has been baking for over a decade. Michele wasn’t always in the baking realm, though. In college, she was a member of the Marching Wildcats and graduated with her Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education.

By chance, a family asked her to make a baby shower cake. She accepted, and that’s when she discovered her newfound baking skills. Several years and hundreds of cakes later, she’s an award-winning cake artist and a two-time Food Network competitor.

Her first appearance was last fall when she and her teammates, also known as the Brown Sugar Babes, were asked to appear on the popular cake decorating show, The Big Bake. You can watch the Episode  here:

After their strong showing season 3, the Brown Sugar Babes were invited back to compete again in Season 4. While they fell short of the $10,000 prize in both episodes, they left a positive impression on the judges and viewers. During a recent interview, Michele shared, “I used to dream of competing on Food Network, and now I’ve done it twice; it is a blessing.”

Skye Confections currently serves the Metro Atlanta Area. While she’s known primarily for her cake artistry, she hosts live and virtual parties, decorating camps, private classes, and several other baking-centric events.

Before we go, Wildcats should know she’ll be appearing on campus during homecoming weekend with her famous Cupcake Jars. We suggest pre-ordering as soon as possible because they almost always sell out.

All Hail to Thee.
